SUMMER VACATIONS!!!!

This past week we took a little vacation up to Salt Lake. Chris' boss was taking him to Canada on a fishing trip so I wanted to do something to pass the time. First we weren't gonna go to church but decided to and guess who was in our sacrament meeting? DALLIN H. OAKS!!! It was so fun to have him in our meeting and he also came to Sunday school. We went up to shake his hand after sacrament and Ashtyn did not want to go. She followed us up there and when he went to shake her hand, she said to me, " I told you I wasn't gonna do it!" She would not shake his hand! Silly! It was so neat. We really are so blessed to have prophets and apostles on the earth today! Back to our vacation...... So we left after church. My mom, sister, and brother also came with us. We stayed at my mom's sister's house. We had so much fun just visiting and doing a couple of FREE things. Here are some of the highlights of our trip:

Monday: My mom wasn't feeling the best so we decided to just go to my aunt's next door neighbor's house and swim. Ashtyn is a little fish! Here she is doing her backwards jump off the side of the pool. Note: if you don't jump out far enough, you scrape your back on the side. Just ask Ashtyn... she knows!

She jumped off the diving board, too! At first she was scared and I "caught" her, but then she did it a couple more times alone. She did a twisty jump too!

Tuesday: We went up to Temple Square to walk around and tour the buildings there. It was neat to see everything there. Then we went to the Cemetary where most of the prophets were buried. It sounds really boring, but it was fun to see and really interesting. Here we are in front of Gordon B. Hinckley's headstone. His was the one I most wanted to see. Later that night, just the girls (and Collin) went to Eclipse. FUN!

Wednesday: This day was just a lot of resting and hanging out. It was raining and windy so we just stayed at home. Ashtyn met the neighbor girl, Meggen, and played with her every moment we were at home. Meggen had lots of dress ups so Ashtyn was in heaven!! Here is one of the dress ups she came home in.

Most every night we would play card games/board games and had a lot of fun!

Thursday: We went to the Kearn's Rec center. It is such a cool place! I wish our rec center was just like it! It has a HUGE area for kids/adults. Ashtyn was once again in heaven! There were so many slides and water features. There was a HUGE bucket that poured out 1000 gallons of water onto people below. Camden really hates the water. He hardly went on any of the slides and just hung out with Grandma in the shade.

Do you see the diving board the second from the TOP..... I jumped off it!!! I could not believe just how HIGH it was. My aunt said if I went, she would go. I jumped and it was the scariest thing ever!!! Needless to say.. my aunt chickened out!

We stayed at the rec center for about 4 1/2 hours that day and had a blast. We were all pretty sunburned, too!

Friday: We went to be in the audience of Good Things Utah! I love this show and watch most every day. I know we are nerds, but it was so much fun. It was FREE and we got to go without any kids! The girls on GTU are so much funnier, prettier, and skinnier in real life. (Proves that the camera really does add ten pounds!)

We had such a good time this past week. We ate way too much good food, the kids were really good, and we are so sad that it is over. Thanks so much to aunt shelli for letting us stay at her house!
